Energy Transfer Partners Building Another Pipeline With More Mishaps

The same company that built the controversial Dakota Access oil pipeline has twice spilled drilling fluids in two pristine Ohio wetlands this month.

Energy Transfer Partners Building Another Pipeline With More Mishaps

In a recent incident in Ohio, Energy Transfer Partners (ETP) once again showed that they cannot be trusted when it comes to protecting the environment.  Obviously, this company cannot be trusted to protect the environment.

In this most recent incident, Energy Transfer Partners spilled a large amount of drilling mud, a substance used in drilling for taking away waste byproducts (mostly dirt and rock chips) and keeping the drill bit cool and lubricated.  This is the second spill of drilling mud made by Energy Transfer Partners in the pristine wetlands of Ohio since the beginning of April.

In the first incident on April 13, the company reported to the Ohio EPA that they had spilled 2 million gallons of drilling mud into the wetlands. The quantity of drilling mud spilled was enough to cover eight football fields. The next day, April 14, Energy Transfer Partners spilled another 20,000 gallons of drilling mud a few miles away.

Though it is chemically harmless, it still has the potential to suffocate wildlife living in wetlands.  This still happened on a pipeline under construction called the Rover pipeline, which will carry oil from Appalachia to Ontario, Canada.  It will be over 700 miles long.

Of course, this company who are the builders of the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota is already well-known to not give a damn about environmental protection.  If they did care about the environment, they wouldn’t have built the Dakota Access Pipeline first.

However, since they are like every other corporation, the only thing they care about is their bottom line.  Corporations like this worship profit like it were God.

To think about Energy Transfer Partners being allowed to build yet another pipeline through sensitive environmental areas, makes me shudder in fear and disbelief.  Then I ask myself; why should I be surprised that a company that has no problem endangering our environment and trampling over the tribal sovereignty of Native Americans care about the environment?

Standing Rock Sioux Still Fighting Energy Transfer Partners

Standing Rock SiouxEven though Energy Transfer Partners (ETP) has finished laying the pipeline under the Missouri River, near the Standing Rock Sioux land, representatives of the tribe say the fight is not over. Much to the dismay of tribal leaders, ETP announced that it has finished a section of the $3.8 billion pipeline directly under the Missouri River, which as the potential to threaten the Standing Rock Sioux tribe’s water supply, despite the claims by ETP that says it’s safe. Of course, how believable is any corporation?

The Standing Rock Sioux tribe is vowing to continue its fight in court because they say that the pipeline is not only endangering the tribe’s water supply but interfering with their sacred lands and religion.

Cheyenne River Sioux Chairman Harold Frazier said that tribes still believe they will ultimately persuade a judge to shut down the pipeline that they say threatens cultural sites, drinking water, and religion.

“The flow of oil under Lake Oahe is a temporary reminder of the pain this pipeline has perpetrated to those that have stood with Standing Rock and the devastation it has wreaked on sacred tribal sites, but hope remains,” said Philip Ellis, spokesperson for Earthjustice, a nonprofit environmental legal firm.

The Dakota Access Pipeline: The Atrocity Is Almost Complete

It looks like corporate greed and service financial interests have won out over the health, safety, and well-being of the American people.  The latest atrocity against the planet and its inhabitants, known as The Dakota Access Pipeline is finished and ready for oil to start flowing through it. At a time when our entire planet faces the dangers of global warming, and our society should be divorcing ourselves from fossil fuels, in favor of renewable energy sources, billions of dollars were spent on technology that is obsolescent.  This money could have been so much better spent on developing renewable “green energy” sources.

Despite the Standing Rock Sioux winning first court rulings against the pipeline, which not only desecrate their tribal land and endangers their water supply, Energy Transfer Partners (ETP) has announced that the Dakota Access Pipeline is finished.  Donald Trump coming into the White House seems to have changed everything because the Obama administration was very willing to work with the Standing Rock Sioux and almost stopped the pipeline from being built.

Of course, an anti-regulation businessman like Donald Trump, who once owned stock in ETP (talk about your conflict of interest) just had to cave into corporate interests and allow The Dakota Access Pipeline to continue.  After all, he had to show some solidarity with his fellow corporate greed Masters and allow this atrocity to go unchecked.

Isn’t it great how these capitalists always stick together, when we the common people seem to argue about everything, no matter how trivial?  It would be so great if we would stop playing the game by their rules and start winning by our rules?  As long as we allow them to keep on successfully using “the divide and conquer tactic” to keep us all in line, nothing will change.

Kelcy Warren Is Not Will Rogers, Despite What His Friends Say

Kelcy WarrenKelcy Warren, founder, and CEO of Energy Transfer Partners (ETP), builder of the infamous Dakota Access Pipeline is not Will Rogers, despite what his friend say.

He is just another wealthy billionaire with too much money and influence.  What he is trying to do to the Standing Rock Sioux is unconscionable and uncaring.  He represents everything that is wrong about the relationship between whites and Native Americans.

Kelcy Warren has used his power and influence to get his way, far too often. He has spent billions of dollars in campaign contributions to some of the lowest of the low, including Rick Perry and present governor of Texas, Greg Abbott.  In fact, he contributed $750,000 to Abbott’s campaign for governor of Texas, and the game nearly $6 million to PACS supporting Rick Perry’s run for president.  Kelcy Warren apparently thinks it’s okay to throw way more money than many small countries just to get his way.  He is the capitalist I hate.

Kelcy Warren displays a split personality or else maybe it would be better called, two-faced.  He denies digging up the bones of ancestors of The Standing Rock Sioux, even though he has done just exactly that.  At some points, he almost seems apologetic to the Standing Rock Sioux, while at the same time continuing to keep on digging the pipeline.

Kelcy Warren has even equated the tribe and its supporters as “terrorists,” even though it’s his people that have attacked these people mercilessly with dogs, tear gas, and clubs.  Even though none of the opponents of the Dakota Access Pipeline has resorted to any violence, other than to raise their hands in self-defense, Kelcy Warren has used his political connections to cause bodily harm to many of these people.

His friends, whether bought or just friends, likes as if he Kelcy Warren has almost some type of “folk hero” just because he writes country music and listen to it.  To depict Kelcy Warren as though he was akin to Will Rogers is a great insult to a great American.  Kelcy Warren is nothing more than just another rich bully tried to have his way and make money, at the expense of Mother Nature.

Veterans Stand in Solidarity With Dakota Access Pipeline Protest

A group of military veterans, named Veterans Stand,  is standing in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux, in their fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline.  The organization, known as Veterans Stand, is vowing to help the Standing Rock Sioux defend their tribal lands against the incursion of Energy Transfer Partners (ETP), the builders of the very controversial pipeline which threatens the water supply of the Standing Rock Sioux.

A couple of days ago, The Secretary of the Army granted the necessary easement to ETP so that they could continue building the Dakota Access Pipeline.  As if no one would notice, the secretary of the Army does not have the power or authority to order the US Army Corps of Engineers to do anything.  Previously, the US Army Corps of Engineers suggested that the route of the Dakota Access Pipeline could easily be rerouted to avoid going near the water supply of the Standing Rock Sioux.

Before, when President Obama was still in power, ETP was denied the easement the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  At first, people thought that they had won their struggle against the pipeline.  However, all of that changed when Donald Trump became president. President Trump has reopened this entire mess.

Last week, President Donald Trump issued an executive order, saying that the Dakota Access Pipeline will continue to be built.  President Trump is guilty of a direct conflict of interest because it has been shown that Donald Trump owns a financial investment in ETP. This is one detail that the media has unfortunately failed to mention. If he had anything resembling a set of ethics, he would recuse himself from being involved. Even though spokespeople for the Trump administration say that he has divested himself of any interest in the pipeline, there is no proof of any divestment on the part of the POTUS.

I wish Veterans Stand all the best in their efforts to save the water supply of the Standing Rock Sioux.  Veterans Stand has established a GoFundMe page at the following link.  Please contribute!

The Dakota Access Pipeline: Trump’s First Conflict of Interest?

Trump’s financial disclosure forms show he invested in Energy Transfer Partners, operators of the controversial pipeline, and its CEO donated to his campaign

The Dakota Access Pipeline: Trump’s First Conflict of Interest?

The Dakota Access Pipeline is still endangering the water supply of the Standing Rock Sioux, despite that the Obama administration has stopped it.  Conflict of interest should prevent Donald Trump, as president, from being involved in the ongoing dispute.  In this situation, he shows a great conflict of interest because he has a financial interest in this entire matter.

It could be the new president’s first conflict of interest because Donald Trump owns stock in Energy Transfer Partners, the builders of the pipeline. He and has received campaign contributions from that company’s CEO, Kelcy Warren.  The conflict of interest runs two ways.

Donald Trump’s financial disclosure statements show that he has invested between $500,000-$1 million in ETP stock.  In addition to this Investment in ETP, Trump’s financial disclosure statement indicates that he has also spent between $500,000-$1 million in Phillips 66.  That company has a 25% interest in ETP and stands to make a larger return on their investment if ETP is allowed to build the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Kelcy Warren, CEO of ETP has also invested a considerable amount of money to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.  On June 29, Warren made a $3000 campaign contribution to Trump, even though the legal limit for individual campaign contributions is $2700.  No one seems to know whether Donald Trump returned $3000 to Warren as required by law.  This irregularity in itself could be a scandal for the incoming president.

Also, Warren also made a $100,000 donation to the Trump Victory Fund, the Republican National Committee (RNC), and eleven state Republican parties. The day before that ETP made two donations to the RNC totaling $66,800. The reason why they chose to split the gifts into two parts is unknown, but it looks suspicious.

The big question is, how can Donald Trump ethically make any decision about the Dakota Access Pipeline? The answer is, he can’t! This conflict of interest by Donald Trump is so blatant it’s unbelievable.

If Donald Trump cares anything about ethics, which he probably doesn’t, he will step back away from this entire situation. To avoid this glaring conflict of interest, he has little choice other than to support the stance of the outgoing president, Barack Obama.

That decision, as we know, is to force ETP to take a different route for the Dakota Access Pipeline; something that they are trying very hard not to do.
