Donald Trump and His War against Dissent

Facing up to 75 years in prison, 135 Inauguration Day protesters are refusing to collaborate with the prosecution.

Donald Trump and His War Against Dissent

Even though the mainstream media seems to have ignored them, over 200 people still remain in custody after protesting against Donald Trump. These protests took place during the January inauguration of President Donald Trump, in Washington DC. This group of people is known as the “Disrupt J20” protesters. Some of them face up to 75 years for a variety of charges, most of them greatly embellished.

In a statement of unity, the group is quoted as saying, “We will not cooperate against any of our co-defendants, nor accept any plea deals that cooperate with prosecutors the expense of other codefendants”. This statement was signed by 135 of 200 still in custody. They also say, The people in custody also say that they “will refuse to accept that any of the charges or actions of law enforcement were necessary or justified…. We will not say anything publicly or privately that has the possibility of individual defendants or defendants as a group”.

This latest effort by Donald Trump and his entire administration seem to be part of the trend to suppress protesters and dissent in this country. In other words, they just want people to lay down and accept whatever bullshit the federal government hands down, without question, no matter how unconstitutional or immoral it may be. Even though this effort has gotten more pronounced under Donald Trump, it has been ongoing for 6a few years,

Any people, or group of people, that organize to disagree with the “status quo” are labeled as criminals or even “potential terrorists”. If you take a look at the situation, you can clearly see that the government has started cracking down on all dissenters, no matter how noble or just the cause may be that dissenters represent. Unfortunately, as usual, the “mainstream media” refuses to see, report on, or even recognize this trend against those who disagree with whatever Uncle Sam says or does.

One only has to look at various movements, such as The Black Lives Matter movement to the protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline by the Standing Rock Sioux to see that the harshness against protesters has risen beyond the point of brutality to downright abuse by police and other authorities. Unfortunately, as long as most people in this country allow themselves to be distracted by everything from their iPhone to their various sporting events, I can see things changing that much. Change only happens if people have the courage to make it happen.

Too Good Not to Share – Michael Winslow – “Whole Lotta Love” – Led Zeppelin

Even though this blog is devoted to politics and political commentary, every once in a while something comes along that is too good not to share. A friend of mine shared this to Facebook, and I thought I would share it with you (whoever you are).

Here is Michael Winslow, the comedian who became famous doing sound effects with his mouth, doing a rendition of the song, “Whole Lotta Love” by Led Zeppelin.

Joe Scarborough Finally Grows Some Balls

“Go to break, go to break right now,” Mr. Scarbourough eventually demanded.

When Mr. Trump kept talking, Mr. Scarborough interrupted him: “Hold on, Donald. You got to let us ask questions. You can’t just talk.”

Mr. Trump kept talking anyway. “I’m not just talking,” he said.

As the exchange intensified, a clearly displeased Mr. Scarborough repeatedly tried to stop Mr. Trump from speaking over him.

“Go to break, then, Joe,” Mr. Trump said, tauntingly.

So Mr. Scarborough did. The segment abruptly ended.

After the commercial, the program returned with Mr. Trump still on the phone, tamer this time, answering questions from the hosts of “Morning Joe.”

Joe Scarborough Finally Grows Some Balls

Joe ScarboroughIt’s good to see that Joe Scarborough of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” has finally grown some balls when it comes to dealing with Donald Trump. This morning, Trump tried to take over the show, and Joe Scarborough took it back.

This interview was a much different scenario than a couple of months ago when Trump was interviewed on his show. At that time, Joe Scarborough and his co-host, Mika Brzezinski, did everything but kiss Donald Trump’s ass. When the microphone was mistakenly left on, both of them were heard to be seemingly pandering to “the Donalds” every request.

At one point during the interview, with the microphone still on, Joe Scarborough promised to keep the questions simple. In other words, he promised not to challenge Trump or cause him actually to have to think about a question and give a thoughtful response. That’s like asking a pig to fly.

Today, Scarborough decided not to bend over for Trump and went to a commercial break when Trump tried to take over the show. Well, Joe Scarborough decided to take the show back.

Since Joe Scarborough allowed Trump to dominate the show before, apparently he was determined that wouldn’t happen again. It’s nice to see that Joe Scarborough has finally grown a pair.

The Attempt By the Media To Downplay the Bernie Sanders Campaign

Despite the fact that Sanders’ campaign has only grown larger and larger, the media always bends over backwards to dismiss him.

Source: A Short History of the Media Smugly Dismissing Bernie Sanders’ Campaign at Every Step of the Way – In These Times

The Attempt by the Media to Downplay the Bernie Sanders Campaign

I have noticed a very active attempt by the so-called “mainstream media”to downplay the significant accomplishments of the Bernie Sanders campaign. Even so-called “progressive” media seems to have joined the fray in attempting to overlook the Sanders campaign and the great progress it is made. Even MSNBC, once regarded as a top progressive media outlet, has joined in this attempt to overlook the accomplishments of Sen. Bernie Sanders. Frankly, I really must say I’m totally disgusted by the entire thing.

It seems that for some reason, it’s almost as though the media feels threatened by Bernie Sanders, and the very notable accomplishments he has made in his run for president of the United States. Even though many of us to recognize this fact are often labeled as whacked out “conspiracy theorists” most of us make a very valid point in our argument.

It seems that the media is almost trying to sabotage his campaign, or are working in collusion with the Clinton campaign.  Hillary Clinton has become the “darling” of media coverage, even though her campaign has been shown to be falling behind and making mistakes. It has become quite obvious to me that some reporters, even those on MSNBC, are clear-cut Clinton supporters. I would be willing to bet that many of them will probably vote for Hillary Clinton.

Much of this increasingly obvious understating the accomplishments of the Bernie Sanders campaign is coming from “political pundits” and “experts” who always seem to be talking about why Bernie Sanders cannot be elected, and often pull many arguments against him out of thin air. I often times wonder if these pundits are being paid off by the Clinton campaign, even though I realize that this point makes me sounds a bit paranoid. However, I learned a long time ago, especially in politics, not to take anything at face value and not trust anything that comes from any of the so-called political experts”.

I often wonder, where do they find these people? Most of these people I’ve never heard of and just seem to appear out of thin air. After listening to this people for a while it doesn’t take long to come to the conclusion that most of them not only don’t know what they’re talking about but magically pull ridiculous answers out of their asses. Little of the so-called “facts” seems to be based on any type of truth.

In the case of the Bernie Sanders campaign, I can’t understand how they can possibly ignore his campaign, especially since he has won so many primaries, picking up delegates as he goes, has succeeded in raising so much money from grassroots supporters like me. He doesn’t have to depend on super PACs for his support, unlike his counterpart Hillary Clinton. It often appears to me that the media doesn’t want his campaign to succeed because he is a direct threat to the “status quo” system of big money involvement in our political process.

Frankly, this maintenance of the current system of campaign financing doesn’t really surprise me. This is because most of our media outlets are now controlled by corporate America. We no longer have a truly free press left in the United States.

Bernie Sanders Ups Anti-Clinton Rhetoric

NEW YORK—A new rift in the Democratic race has opened up, with Bernie Sanders making the case that Bill Clinton’s two-term presidency was harmful to the African-American voters who are among the most loyal groups in the Clinton family’s political base.

Sanders: Clinton ‘condescending’ to young voters

… has opened up the opportunity for them to do a lot of research,” he added. “And I’ll tell you, one of the reasons I think we’re doing so well is a lot of those people are going to the Internet and hearing what we have to say and what Bernie Sanders

Pray for ????? (Political Satire)

Pray for ???? (Political Satire)

Even though this is satire, it is the type of satire that I occasionally like. It deals with an ugly subject, terrorism, which seems to be plaguing our whole planet. Some of you may not like this piece satire about such an ugly subject, but one thing it does do is point out something very important, people are not paying attention to the real world until something tragic happens. Then, everyone seems to wake up and smell the coffee.

This video says volumes about our media, and how they seem to jump from one story to another, without really taking the time to give it the full coverage it deserves. The media of today seems to just gloss over subjects that are really important to the well-being of the average person, no matter what their nationality or ethnic origin. In this way, the media seems to treat us all equally, but in other subjects it tends to treat us separately.

It seems that no matter how tragic an event may be, the media gives it a couple of days worth of coverage. Then, they move on to the next tragic event, which these days have all too much frequency. In some ways, I can’t really fault them because I can easily see how the media may be inundated with news. But, they always seem to have enough time to devote to “fluff”, or the latest fashion that Kim Kardashian may be wearing.

However, it seems to me that the media’s priorities are badly skewed, and seemed to be geared towards entertaining people instead of informing them about what’s going on in the world today. It has been my contention for quite a while that, if the media really wants to entertain us, certain news stories (i.e. celebrity gossip, smart dogs that do tricks, and other trivia) should be dealt with in some type of newsmagazine format.

Real news, like terrorism, deserves to be covered in a serious way on a real newscast; something that the media currently doesn’t do. In this, they are failing people in their primary responsibility; giving people information.

That is one reason why I believe that political satire, such as this, is important. It forces people to think about issues happening in this world that are truly relevant. Even though some people think that this type of political satire isn’t funny, it does make them stop and think. The situation might be different if people actually started paying attention. Unfortunately, to pay attention, they would have to put aside their cell phones, iPads, and other ridiculous electronic gadgets that many people in our society seem to be mesmerized with.

Second GOP Debate: Will the Whining Ever Stop?

If the Republicans ever came up with a fresh idea, maybe they would stop your whining about the second GOP debate of 2015.

Second GOP Debate: Will the Whining Ever Stop?

Second GOP debateIf the Republicans ever came up with a fresh idea, maybe they would stop their whining about the second GOP debate of 2015. But since that has happened, if it ever has, they will probably keep on complaining about the questions they were asked at the second Republican debate. Personally, I thought the questions were perfectly fine at this debate.

Nearly all of the Republican candidates complaints about the second debate basically boil down to the fact that the questions were too challenging and they didn’t have any answers of any real relevance.

Their primary source of complaint that the Republican candidates seem to have is with CNBC, the network that moderated the second GOP debate. They are claiming that the questions were “gotcha” questions.

In other words, the questions were too thoughtful and well composed. The questions asked by the moderators challenged the debaters and forced them to actually think and give some real solid answers about their various policies; something that no GOP candidate is willing to do, probably because they don’t have any answers.

Most prominent among the complainers, or “whiners” as I call them was Donald Trump. In fact, he was complaining about the moderators and CNBC even before the debate happened. It seems that CNBC has put him down in the polls and has been rather critical of him and his candidacy. During the debate, Donald Trump, got visibly angry when one of the moderators actually questioned both the legitimacy of his presidential candidacy, as well as his plan to build a wall between the United States and Mexico. Apparently, Donald Trump doesn’t like being put in a position where he actually has to stop and think, give relevant answers, or stop bashing his opponents which has been a cornerstone of his entire candidacy.

I thought that the three moderators from CNBC did a good job of hosting the second GOP debate. It’s too bad that most of the prominent members of the “Republican clown car” have no real answers to anything; a condition that has existed for many years. Now, this bunch of whiners, backed by the Republican National Committee (RNC) has decided to sever all relations with the entire NBC network. I suppose they expect a well-respected news network like NBC to be more like Fox News, the propaganda outlet for the GOP. I seriously doubt that this will happen, at least I hope it doesn’t, despite how much whining the GOP candidates do about the second GOP debate.
