Some Words of Truth From a Friend

Let me tell you a story. While you read, I want you to be repeating this in your mind: Medicaid is inclusion. Medicaid is inclusion. Medicaid is inclusion. The last century has been increasingly positive for people with disabilities. in 1949, the average life expectancy for a person born with Down syndrome was 12. Today, […]

Some Words of Truth From a Friend

This is one of the best blog posts I’ve read in quite a while. It goes far to deliver the message about how many people are currently being affected by this nation’s health care crisis, not least of which are people with disabilities.

After last week’s demonstration by ADAPT in Mitch McConnell’s office in the US capital building, it seems that disabled people are becoming the “tip of the spear” in the battle against the Republican health care plan. This plan, if passed through Congress will devastate the entire disability community and most people regardless of disability or not. If the Republican health care plan passes, it will create devastation for home care down services. Home care services are one resource that most people with disabilities depend on to remain in our homes as independent people, leaving independent lives in our communities. Nursing homes are like prisons to most of us. Most of us would rather be dead than be confined to one of these hellholes.

Medicaid is one federal program that provides funding for most home care services in this country. If it dies, we die. Also, much of the health care that we disabled people depend on for our survival is also funded by Medicaid. It is one government service that we cannot live without. That is why it is crucial that Medicaid is saved. If we allow the heartless GOP to have its way, many of us will die needlessly.

We of the disability community must fight for our lives as we never have before. Never has so much at stake, as right now! We must remember that quote by the late Justin Dart, that says, “you must get involved in politics as though your life depends on it because it does”.

Internet Trolls: Bringing Dissension and Racism to Cyberspace

According to the Urban Dictionary, the definition of Internet trolling is, “the act of making a response for no other reason than to gain attention.

“The act of making a response for no other reason than to gain attention. It is commonly displayed by insecure, or narcissistic people. Even if the remark is rude, or starts an argument, the person trolling gains the social interaction that they wanted.”

According to the Urban Dictionary, the definition of Internet trolling is, “The act of making a response for no other reason than to gain attention. It is commonly displayed by insecure, or narcissistic people. Even if the remark is rude, or starts an argument, the person trolling gains the social interaction that they wanted.”

My personal definition of Internet trolling is, cruising various websites and causing as much dissension, racism, and being as much of a racist bastard as possible.  I say this because this is the primary type of Internet trolling that I meet 5while surfing the Web.  Some of these Internet trolls be described as nothing less than toxic in the “commentary.”

I would have to say that the worst Internet trolls are the right-wing trolls.  Some of these people are disgusting, not only in their viewpoint but the way they deliver it.  Over the past few years, I have seen some of the ugliest rhetoric that I have ever seen.  Much of it, especially from the ultra-right, is downright hateful and racist, primarily being directed President Barack Obama, the first African-American president in American history.

In this ultra-right wing commentary, I have seen the “N-word” used more often than I have in my entire life.  If one didn’t know better, you would think that the KKK had taken over the Internet.  This type of ugly racist rhetoric accomplishes absolutely nothing other than to make people very uncomfortable, to the point that many rational people who wish to engage in some discussion would rather leave than to deal with this inexcusable behavior.  And these only leaves open the various comment sections of most websites open for these right-wing racists to dominate the entire space.

internet trollingPersonally, my way of dealing with these right-wing trolls is to try arguing with them and trying to make some sensible points; something which becomes almost impossible, most of the time.  I should know better than to try arguing with them because by doing so, I violate an unwritten rule about dealing with Internet trolls.  This unwritten rule is, “don’t feed the trolls.”

Even though I know this rule is probably the best solution about how to deal with these trolls, I still can’t seem to help myself from responding because what these trolls are saying is so disgusting and goes against everything I believe in.

What Is a Troll and Internet Trolling?

Dec 16, 2016 Social media has fed another trend that’s been around since the early days of the internet: trolling. Here’s what you need to know about it.

Donald Trump Will Be A Disaster For the Environment

Global warmingWhen it comes to the environment, or a policy designed to protect it, Donald Trump will be a disaster.  Donald Trump’s view on environmental issues is what one might expect from a typical businessman; if it stands in the way of profit, he is against any environmental policy.  Donald Trump, like most conservative people in business, is against any regulations.  They consider regulations to be cumbersome and expensive.  They refused to realize that rules are meant to protect people from harmful products and practices. Their negligence over crucial issues like global warming is next to criminal.

We must always remember one thing, Donald Trump is a businessman first, POTUS second.  He will never allow anything to stand in the way of capitalism and making a profit.

A good example would be Donald Trump on the subject of climate change and global warming.  He believes that global warming/climate change is nonsense.  Donald Trump is a climate change denier of the first order.  He has even gone so far as to make the ludicrous claim that global warming is a Chinese hoax.

I find this claim to be ridiculous to the point of being obscene because when someone perpetrates a hoax, they usually do so for some reason.  What possible reason would that Chinese have for inventing a hoax like global warming?  Given that their environment has suffered extensive damage over the years, especially when it comes to air pollution, they have every reason to believe in global warming, not that it’s a hoax or some falsehood, like Donald Trump.

If one follows the news, especially about China, they will know that China has the worst air pollution in the world.  There are times when the air is so bad in Beijing; that is next to impossible to see more than 100 yards.  What possible motive could people who suffer from such horrible environmental issues have caused to create a global warming/climate change hoax?  This position just another place where Donald Trump makes absolutely no sense.

The last thing this country needs is a president who refuses to believe in such a critical issue as climate change.  Donald Trump’s environmental policy, or lack thereof, could kill many Americans for the damage our health, at the least.
